One of the most important aspects of introducing a young player to the game of golf is providing them with proper fitting equipment. Poor fitting clubs can lead to swing problems that can be difficult to correct in later years, and even affect the desire to play. Juniors need properly fit clubs to help promote a good swing fundamentals.
This are some key points for getting the proper golf clubs for juniors.
Length:
Important to have the perfect length for them to swing the club around the body. If the clubs are long or short will cause the junior to compensate during the swing.
Shaft Flex:
Is relative to the juniors ability to swing the golf club (speed) there are softer shafts for those who swing slower and stronger for those that swing faster. It is a big mistake to cut down standard flex clubs because the shaft will become extremely strong.
Weight:
The struggle to get back causes a manipulation of the swing that results in inconsistency. A lighter club will help the junior get the club in the correct position at the top of the swing, and lead to an easily repeatable swing.
Grip Size:
Since the grip is where the human body contacts the golf club, we believe it should be as comfortable as possible, so we use a smaller grip to fit there hand.
Head Design:
It is important that the junior plays with something easy to hit and more forgiven to assure that the ball is going to get up in the air.
Loft and Lies:
It is a key for the golf club to be square at impact. Having the club adjust to the proper specs the junior will be hitting the ball straighter.
When buying junior clubs, you can help your junior play better golf, and more importantly, have a better time on the golf course.
