The onsite summer facility includes a full driving range, chipping green and putting green with bent grass surfaces. Our new Jim McLean Learning Center, an indoor winter facility in downtown Park City, Utah, is fully equipped with a state-of-the-art course simulator, TrackMan Launch Monitor measurement system, and the latest JC Video Golf Swing Analysis Software. You can work on your game during the off-season, playing 18 virtual holes of simulated golf while two video cameras capture every swing for frame-by-frame slow motion analysis on a giant flat screen television.

ONE HOUR LESSON

See your swing on the big screen!  In one hour, you will get a complete golf swing analysis and an action plan for improvement in our new High Definition Golf Simulator.  Using high speed JC Video Motion Analysis Software, your swing will be analyzed in slow motion and frame-by-frame replay on our large projection screen.  In conjunction with our TrackMan Launch Monitor, you will be able to follow the flight of the ball and monitor your golf swing data such as launch angle, club path, attack angle, face angle and spin rate to receive a thorough understanding of the cause and effects of your golf swing. 

Included in each lesson is a video email that will include before and after videos of your swing as well as your swing notes of the session so that you have a permanent reminder of your improvement.

PLAYING LESSON

Play one of the 20 best courses in the world – including Pebble Beach, Doral, and Torrey Pines – and receive “on-course” instruction at the same time using our HD Golf Simulator.  During this playing lesson, you will learn different course management strategies and shot making skills like hitting the ball high and low or hitting a draw or fade on command.  Learn how to hit specialty short game shots as well like Jim McLean’s low burning wedge or the high spinning ¾ punch wedge shot.  These are shots that are easy to teach indoors so you will have the knowledge and confidence to use them when you get outdoors.

Approximately 9 holes can be played during a one hour playing lesson.

PUTTER FITTING

The key to good putting is having your putter fit you as opposed to you fitting into your putter.  Most amateurs have a putter in their bag that is either 34 or 35 inches because those are the two lengths the main club manufacturers produce.  Come to the Winter Golf School for a custom putter fitting session that will include video analysis of your golf stoke as well as an examination of how the loft, lie, length, and weight of your putter effects how the ball rolls off the putter face.

CLUB FITTING

Have a new custom fit and custom built driver, hybrid, wedge, or an entire set of clubs ready for your next golf season.  Using the JC Video and TrackMan Launch Monitor, the Winter Golf School can fit you in the proper equipment, build it to exact specifications, and ship it right to your front door.  By using the TrackMan Launch monitor you will be assured that you have a club for every distance you need.  You’ll have to see for yourself what the proper equipment will do for your game!

1/2 Hour and 1 Hour Lesson

One-to-One Private or Multiple Player Group lessons are available by the half hour or by the hour to focus in on the aspects of your game that need the most attention. JC Video Golf Swing Analysis Software and TrackMan Launch Monitor are available for all lessons.

Jon Paupore, Director of Instruction

Selected by Jim McLean as the Director of Instruction for the school at Red Ledges in April 2010, Jon joins an elite team of the finest golf instructors in the world. Jon has worked with golfers of every skill level, from the best players in the world to first-timers and juniors. He has developed training programs that maximize the enjoyment of men, women, and junior golfers while enhancing their understanding of their game.

Jon began his golfing career at Eastern Michigan University, where he qualified for the 1995 US Amateur (Tiger Woods - Newport CC) and 1998 British Amateur (Sergio Garcia - Muirfield). After turning professional and playing on several tours, Jon spent eight years as a Teaching Professional at Jack Nicklaus' private golf course, The Bear's Club in Jupiter, Florida. With his extensive knowledge of the golf swing and the Jim McLean system, Jon currently works with former LPGA Tour Champion Kelli Kuehne, and has previously worked with PGA Tour Veteran Briny Baird, as well as several other top professionals on the European Tour and Ladies European Tour.

Derek Butts, Jim McLean Certified Instructor

Derek joined the Jim McLean Golf School at Red Ledges in May 2011 after finishing the Jim McLean Instructor Certification in Doral, Florida. Derek started his golf career by competing in the U.S. Junior Amateur and competing collegiately at Drake University alongside Former Masters Champion Zach Johnson. Upon graduation he turned professional and qualified for various mini-tours, including the Dakota Tour, Golden Bear Tour and Gateway Tour for three years. After that he worked at Jack Nicklaus' private golf course, The Bear's Club in Jupiter, Florida, where he worked as a teaching professional and assistant golf professional.
